Act 1 Resolution
Kael returns to Greyhaven as the town enters another state of confusion.
The wanted posters now describe him as a hero.
The next morning, they describe him as a traitor.
Captain Rusk orders the town guard to protect him.
Sister Maelin sends a message asking him to come to the Temple of the Drowned Star.
Mara Voss offers to buy the storm crystal.
The Revisionists begin searching the streets for him.
If Kael took the black memory crystal, the consequences begin immediately. His reflection sometimes shows him older, bloodied, and standing beside Mara. When he casts magic, nearby people may briefly remember one of his possible futures instead of the present. The Revisionists can also sense his location whenever the crystal reveals a memory, making every vision a risk.
Meanwhile, the Tide Bell rings once more.
This time, every person in Greyhaven remembers the same thing:
Kael Veyris has been in the town before.
They remember him standing beneath the Mnemonic Storm Engine.
They remember him activating it.
They remember him screaming as the storm consumed him.
Then the memories vanish.
Only Kael remembers the final image:
Mara Veyris placing a hand against the engine and whispering:
“My son, you were never meant to remember.”
The black crystal answers in his palm:
“You chose to remember anyway.”
